The Vagina Monologues (2).jpg

Since 1998, tens of thousands of communities have staged V-Day benefit performances of The Vagina Monologues in over 200 countries and territories. Productions like ours have helped fund rape crisis centres and domestic violence shelters, educated communities, and raised urgently needed funds for groups doing the essential work of ending violence and serving survivors and their families.

The New York Times called The Vagina Monologues, “probably the most important piece of political theater of the last decade.” The play – first performed Off- Broadway and in locations around the world by Ms. Ensler – dives into the mystery, humour, pain, power, wisdom, outrage and excitement in women’s experiences.

This production is inspired by the Mothers, Artists, Makers (M.A.M) movement – an evolving, self-organised group of mothers across the island of Ireland who identify as artists and theatre makers. M.A.M. exists to highlight the causes and effects of the disappearance of theatre practitioners who are mothers, establish pathways back to work and collaborate with theatre organisations, venues and companies to develop family friendly work policy and practice.

The proceeds from this production will go to Women’s Aid Belfast and the V-Day Spotlight Campaign.

Directed by Jo Egan, the cast includes Cat Barter, Vicky Blades, Melanie Clark Pullen, Marina Hampton, Nandi Jola, Mary Jordan, Emma McErlean, Anesu Mtowa, Sarah Reid, Ellen Anne Schultz, Brenda Winter and Michelle Young.
